2024 RAM 1500 Big Horn
Posted on March 14, 2024
The new lineup for the 2024 RAM 1500 offers some spectacular pickup trucks. The Big Horn is the second trim, with several key differences from the base Tradesman trim. However, as the second of eight trims, there's much that the lineup still has to offer.

Fuel Economy (City): 12.1 L/100 km

Pricing
The base trim for the 1500 starts at $54,015, while the Big Horn, the next trim in the lineup, has a starting price of $61,515*. With a price difference as significant as this, it's expected that the pickup will come with several luxuries, which can be seen from seating to the exterior and more.
To upgrade the Big Horn's engine to the 5.7-litre HEMI VVT V8, you'll need an additional $2,295* or $3,195*. The higher cost option includes eTorque and FuelSaver MDS, while only the MDS feature is available for the lower price upgrade.
Seating and Comfort
While the Big Horn offers cloth seating for its 40/20/40 front bench seat, the base trim only offers heavy-duty vinyl upholstery. With cloth being a more breathable option, the Big Horn provides more comfort already from only its seating choice.
Instead of vinyl, the Big Horn comes with carpet floor coverings. The door trim panel with a map pocket and the front centre seat cushion storage console provide more storage solutions inside the cabin.
Enhanced Exterior
The Big Horn features lighter 18-inch aluminum wheels fitted with 275/65R18 BSW all-season Goodyear tires. These wheels are an upgrade from the base model's steel wheels of the same size. The only accent on the exterior of the pickup, unlike many other of its trims, is only the black door handles.
The truck's mirrors have been upgraded to Chrome auto-dimming, power-folding, and heated mirrors, which also include courtesy lamps, supplemental turn signals and memory for multiple drivers.
Driving and Performance
The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that comes standard with the Big Horn has a slightly higher fuel economy. This increased fuel consumption comes from only the Tradesman being available in 4x2, which has a lower fuel consumption but less stability.
The fuel efficiency for the pickup is 9.7 L/100 km on the highway, 0.3 L/100 km more than the base trim. The city's fuel efficiency is 12.1 L/100 km, which is only 0.2 L/100 km more than the Tradesman's fuel consumption.
