The 2022 Ram 1500 is available in eight trims. The Tradesman ($47,945), the Big Horn ($51,445), the Sport ($64,995), the Rebel ($66,995), the Laramie (70,995), the Limited Longhorn ($76,295), the Limited ($80,595), and the TRX ($102,595).
The 2022 Toyota Tundra can be bought in nine combustion engine trims: you can choose the 4x2 SR Double Cab ($44,990), the 4x2 SR Long Bed Double Cab ($45,490), the 4x4 SR Double Cab ($48,290), or the middle of the range trim 4x4 SR Crewmax ($50,290). Upper trim levels include the 4x4 SR5 Double Cab Long Bed ($52,490), the 4x4 SR5 Long Bed Crewmax ($54,350), the 4x4 Limited Double Cab ($60,490), the 4x4 Limited Crewmax ($62,490), and the top of the range 4x4 Long Bed Limited Crewmax ($62,850).
Engines and Performance
You’ll be able to purchase the 2022 Ram 1500 in two engines. You can either have the 3.6-litre
V6 or the 5.7-litre V8 engine. The 3.6-litre V6 can produce a maximum horsepower of 305 and torque of 269 lb-ft. The 5.7-litre engine is more powerful, giving out 410 lb-ft of torque and 395 horsepower. The mighty TRX is available in a 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI engine that puts out a massive 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque if you require something a bit zippier.
Toyota no longer produces the V8 engine for the 2022 Toyota Tundra. The manufacturer has equipped the Tundra gas engines and hybrids with a V6 engine. The gas version will give you 348 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.
The Ram can carry very heavy payloads and tow mighty large objects. The Ram 1500 can take a maximum payload of 2,320 pounds while at the same time towing up to 12,750 pounds of weight. The Tundra can take up to 1,940 of weight with a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds.
Fuel efficiency in both pickup trucks is close, but Ram’s V6 engine two-wheel-drive configuration will give you slightly better efficiency at 11.05km/L combined.
Safety and Technology
Both trucks have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and Wi-Fi hotspot technology. You’ll be able to fit your Ram 1500 with an optional Harmon Kardon sound system. The Tundra can be fitted with an optional 35.5cm touchscreen.
Rear-cross traffic, an automatic braking assist, adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning systems are standard or available as optional upgrades in both pickup trucks.
