Many two-row SUVs have off-road capabilities to some degree, but few carmakers blend city-friendly comfort with trail-ready engineering quite like Jeep. The Grand Cherokee is an excellent example of the company's approach, and here's what you can expect from the latest 2021 Grand Cherokee available for sale at our Medicine Hat dealership.
Changes for 2021
The main change for the 2021 lineup is the addition of the Laredo X trim, which builds on the Laredo with extras including standard navigation, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a powered liftgate.
Even at the base level, the Grand Cherokee has plenty of punch under the hood. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 making 295 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque, offering a good balance between performance when you need it and economy from day-to-day. The power is passed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. But if you're after a little more pep, there's a 5.7L V8 producing 360hp and 390lb-ft, or a 6.4L V8 pushing out 475hp and 470lb-ft. For the ultimate in off-road power, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk edition cranks out 707 horsepower and 645lb-ft from its supercharged 6.2L V8, a staggering amount of grunt for a medium-sized SUV.
Interior & Safety Tech
But the Jeep brand is about more than rugged power. The interior of the 2021 Grand Cherokee is as comfortable as you'd expect, boasting premium features like a 7" or 8.4" touchscreen to handle infotainment, supported by a 7" digital gauge cluster for essential driving info. All trims are supplied with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while navigation is available with the larger touchscreen sizes. And to cap it off, audiophiles can choose from six, nine, or 19 speakers to relay the advanced multimedia system's output.
Unsurprisingly, the rugged Jeep engineering proved highly resilient in crash tests, earning a maximum rating in every area from the NHTSA. Advanced technology builds on that solid foundation, with standard driver-assist features including:
