Heavy-duty pickup trucks never go out of fashion, and this is especially true for the RAM 2500, which has been around for more than 20 years. Not much information has been released about the 2024 RAM 2500 yet, but we do know a little bit about the engines and performance capabilities. Let’s take a closer look.

Notable Changes from the Previous Year


The 2024 Ram 2500 is coming with some updates in its exterior design, making it look as robust as its engines. The front grille is even bigger than the 2023 version, and the body has more angular lines. While we’re still waiting for confirmation on the trims of the 2024 lineup, Ram has already disclosed its standard engine: the impressive 6.4L V8.

Performance Specs


The 6.4-litre V8 engine is quite powerful, delivering 410 horsepower. The 2024 Ram 2500 will also have an optional engine available: the 6.7-litre Cummins Turbo Diesel I6. While the standard option has an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Cummings has a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with complete electronic control and planetary gear sets.

Design Elements


The interior design of the 2024 Ram 2500 is as classy as possible, with 100% leather seating for the Limited Longhorn and Limited trims. The most luxurious models include a 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with an 8-inch subwoofer. There are also bucket seats with heavy-duty vinyl, cloth, and premium leather coverings available.

It’s much easier to control the temperature inside, thanks to the availability of ventilated and heated front seats. The rear seats will also be heated. The cargo space has been improved with a RamBox Cargo Management System, a class-exclusive feature. It is drainable, waterproof, and equipped with a 115‑volt electrical outlet.

The exterior design, including door handles and grilles, can be monochromatic for the Laramie and Big Horn trims. Black headlines and accents are also available for those trims. The availability of bifunctional LED projector headlamps ensures you’ll see everything ahead of you, even in the most adverse weather conditions.

There are telescoping trailer tow mirrors equipped with LED lights, with convex heated mirrors as optional. These mirrors are also retractable if you need to drive in tighter spaces.

Technology


The multimedia centre has been upgraded, with a faster processor and three times the resolution and memory space of previous versions. The Uconnect 5 is the standard infotainment system, with features like tow-specific navigation, five user profiles, and mobile compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2024 lineup also includes a 12-inch customizable digital cluster and a touchscreen display equally big is available. You can also opt for a digital rearview mirror, which integrates the views of both exterior mirrors.

Safety Features


Safety comes first in the next-generation Ram 2500, with over 100 features available. The trailer sway control and electronic stability control are standard for the whole lineup. If trailering is your thing, a trailer reverse steering option is also available. The blindspot cameras are activated via turn signals. Parking is made simple even for such a massive vehicle, with the ParkSense system. Other safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and further driving assists.
