The 2022 Jeep Cherokee falls under compact crossover SUVs, also known as ‘soft-roaders”. These SUVs are supposed to adapt to driving on normal roads and rugged surfaces. Standard features in this range include remote start, cruise control, LED lighting, air conditioning, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual USB ports, and cloth/premium vinyl seats.

As far as safety goes, the Jeep Cherokee offers rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning. For drivers who want to exercise the Jeep experience of this SUV, it offers brake stability control, trailer sway control (TSC), automatic headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.. All trims include eight airbags with driver and front passenger knee blockers.

Engine and Transmission

For the 2022 version of the Jeep Cherokee, there are three engine options:

  • A 2.0-litre engine on the Limited. (270 hp at 5250 rpm, 295 lb-ft of torque at 3000-4500 rpm)
  • A 2.4-litre engine on the Sport. (180 hp at 6400 rpm, 171 lb-ft of torque at 4600 rpm)
  • A 3.2-litre engine found on the North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and Trailhawk Elite. (271 hp at 6500 rpm, 239 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm)

All trims have a nine-speed automatic transmission and come standard with a V6 engine and all-wheel drive.

Exterior Specifications

The Jeep Cherokee is smaller in size than the Grand Cherokee, but it is bigger than Jeep Compass. Its overall dimensions can be compared to the Honda CR-V and the Chevrolet Equinox.

Despite being built for the outdoors, it has a streamlined and modern look because of the rounded edges. The Cherokee is not as rectangular as the Jeep Wrangler, more military-inspired.

Interior Specifications

There is plenty of legroom for the driver and passenger, but the leg space for the passengers in the back is average. All the controls are conveniently placed in an easy way to access. Overall the seating is comfortable even with the materials used for simpler models in the range. You’ll notice that the quality of materials starts from cloth to more expensive leather as you move up the model ranks.

This SUV has a great infotainment system that consists of standard Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Android Auto, and six speakers.

All the glass is in a deep print privacy glass, except for the Sport model, which has Solar Control Glass. However, all models feature power windows.

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee features a 4x4 system and a Selec-Terrain Traction Management system, which is helpful when driving off-road.
