2021 Jeep Cherokee
Over the years, it's been in production, the Jeep Cherokee has built a solid reputation for combining daily comfort and performance with rugged off-road capabilities. And now there's an all-new 2021 Jeep Cherokee, featuring a major redesign and enhanced capabilities. Here's what you can expect from this new 2021 model.
Power Under the Hood
There are three powerful engine options available on the 2021 Jeep Cherokee. The standard mill is a 2.4L naturally aspirated inline-four model that outputs a highly respectable 180 horsepower and 171lb-ft of torque. The power is passed through a nine-speed automatic transmission to the front-wheel drive. While the base configuration is amply powerful for daily driving, if you plan to take the Cherokee off-road the higher options will be of much greater interest. The next model up is a 3.2L V6 engine pushing out 271 horsepower and 239lb-ft of torque through the same transmission to four-wheel drive, placing this model firmly into a higher performance category. However, for the best off-pavement driving, the Altitude trim is equipped with an intercooler turbo 2.0L engine which maintains a horsepower of 270hp but pushes the torque up to a hefty 295lb-ft, making the Cherokee a match for any terrain.
Superior Handling and Performance
All that power under the hood makes for a smooth and responsive drive, especially when combined with the well-balanced suspension which soaks up the shocks without any drama. And to ensure great handling under a wide range of conditions, the 2021 Cherokee has five terrain modes to choose from, plus a locking rear differential for improved off-road ability.
Interior and Infotainment
The Jeep Cherokee features five-seat comfortably, providing a generous 104cm of legroom at the front and 102cm in the rear. Compared to some other more family-oriented competitors, the trunk capacity is on the low side at 730 litres, although this is more than enough for taking your gear onto the trail. The Cherokee's infotainment system is particularly impressive, based around the advanced but user-friendly Uconnect software. At the entry-level, the 7" touchscreen has a clear display that responds quickly to the touch and can be upgraded to an 8.4" model for even greater clarity and ease of use. Other tech features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 6-speaker audio system, and an exterior temperature gauge.
There is a wide range of standard and optional safety features for the 2021 year, with the highlights including: - Blind-spot monitoring. - Active lane control with departure warnings and keep assist. - Full-speed forward-collision warnings and active braking. - Rear cross-traffic alerts. - Electron stability control, roll stability control, driveline traction control. - Anti-lock braking system. And as you'd expect from a modern SUV, there's a full set of dual-stage airbags throughout the cabin.
